Working with your Solar Plexus Chakra

Working with your Solar Plexus Chakra

Is your self-confidence feeling a little shaky? Do you often feel as though you’re not good enough? Maybe your Solar Plexus chakra could do with a bit of attention!

Also known as the ‘warrior’ chakra, the third Solar Plexus (or Manipura) chakra is located in your upper abdomen and is often associated with your ‘gut’ feelings and sense of self-worth. If it’s out of sync or blocked, you may have low self-esteem and find it difficult to see the ‘big picture’ in life.

Because we function better when it’s open and we have self-assurance, confidence and success, we need to figure out how to work with this chakra.

So what can you do to make sure it’s working as it should be?

Use healing crystals

As is usual when working with healing crystals, holding them in the palm of your hand, wearing them as a necklace, or carrying them in your pocket are all great options.

Because the Solar Plexus chakra is associated with the colour yellow, yellow and light orange coloured crystals are best to work with here, so when you want to open your Solar Plexus chakra, you can use amber, which is linked to confidence and decision-making, yellow tourmaline, which is a ‘detox’ stone, and citrine, a stone associated with self-esteem and success.

Try some yoga poses

Any yoga practice you do will help to unblock your chakras, but a couple in particular are perfect for opening your Solar Plexus chakra.

Try the very popular and soothing Child’s Pose in which you kneel down, sit on your heels and lean forward to place your stomach between your thighs. Any of the warrior poses should also work wonders here as they build confidence and help you to remember that you are strong and confident.

Burn incense and essential oils

As with the other chakras, burning specific incense and essential oils will help you to release any tension and blockages that might exist.

The essential oils and incense that are best for your Solar Plexus chakra are fiery, spicy ones like saffron, sandalwood, ginger and cinnamon. You can also add a few drops of these essential oils into a hot bath to help you relax and really get the blockages cleared!

Next we’ll discover how you can connect with the fourth chakra, the Heart chakra.
