Do you often find it difficult to love or have empathy for yourself or others? Are you left feeling emotionally drained from your relationships? It might be time to take a look at your Heart chakra and give it a little TLC!
The fourth chakra, the Heart Chakra (or Anahata) is arguably one of the most important chakras to keep open and balanced. This is because love and compassion are two of the key ingredients to living a good life as humans here on this earth.
When your heart chakra is open, you’ll feel loving, calm and compassionate to yourself and those around you. You’ll be able to separate yourself from toxic relationships and have a better handle on your emotions and the limitations that come with them. So how can you keep this very important chakra open
Use healing crystals with love energy
Some crystals such as rose quartz are most known for being stones of love, compassion and empathy so they will definitely come in handy here. Rose quartz can help you regain balance, jade can help with emotional healing, and green calcite can be used to absorb negativity. Because the colour green is associated with the Heart chakra, any green crystals should serve you well, but make sure that they are ones that are best for calming and soothing emotions.
Work with essential oils and incense that help the Heart chakra
These include those oils and incense with scents of rose, lavender, sandalwood or jasmine - all very calming and stabilising scents. Aromatherapy works well with healing all of your chakras, but it particularly helps to heal your Heart chakra. This chakra needs a lot of love and attention so having these scents close by will help you to reopen its loving and healing energy. As we’ve said previously, you can add a drop or two of your chosen essential oil to a hot bath, or rub some into your pulse points when you need an extra lift when out and about.
Practice yoga poses that activate the Heart chakra
Any yoga pose where your chest and your heart are open will help you to heal and open your Heart chakra. Upward facing dog and bridge pose are fantastic ones you can try - as you move into the pose, take deep breaths and focus on opening your heart to the kind and loving energy of the universe. Hold the pose for as long as you need to be filled with a sense of calm and feel the energy flowing through you.
Get your green on
Working with the colour associated with each chakra is an easy way to start to heal and be aware of any blockages that may be present. Because green is the colour of the Heart chakra, surrounding yourself with this colour will help to open it. Wearing green jewellery or clothing will help you to feel more in tune with your Heart chakra, and creating a space for green plants in your home or workplace will not only be good for your stress levels and your health, but it will also help you to heal this chakra too.
Next we’ll look at the chakra of communication, the Throat chakra!
